Draft. This page is a working draft that an attorney is reviewing. It describes how CareDen works today, and it may change before launch.

What CareDen is

CareDen summarizes public records about senior living communities, including federal Medicare inspection data, California licensing records, state crime statistics and US Census data, so families can prepare for a tour. CareDen is an information service. It is not a licensing agency, inspector, care provider, placement agency, or medical, legal or financial adviser.

Information, not advice

Reports describe what public agencies recorded, as of the date shown on each report. Records can be incomplete, out of date, or later changed by the agency. Always confirm important facts with the community and the agency that keeps the record before you decide. Visit in person, and talk to your doctor, lawyer or financial adviser about your situation.

Scores, grades and flags

Where CareDen shows a score, grade or flag, it is our opinion, made with a published formula from the public record. It is not a finding by any government agency and it does not say a community is safe or unsafe. Communities cannot pay to change a score, a finding or their place in search results.

Community responses and corrections

A community's verified manager can respond to any finding. Responses appear next to the finding, under the community's name, and are its own statements, not CareDen's. Anyone can use "Report an error" on a report. We check reports against the public record and correct our copy when we made a mistake. We do not remove accurate public records.

Reviews and other content you post

Reviews must describe your own experience, honestly and without personal information about residents or staff. We may decline, hide or remove reviews and responses that break these rules or the law. By posting, you let CareDen display your content on the service and in reports.

Accounts

Keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else used your account. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service, including scraping, automated bulk access, or posting content on behalf of a community you do not represent.

Communities and paid plans

Communities may claim their page and may choose a paid plan for extra tools. Plan terms are agreed separately. A paid plan never changes the public record, a score, or search order.

Limits

CareDen is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, CareDen is not liable for decisions made using the service or for errors in public records. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
